The Charity Board

On the south wall to the West of the doorway is a panel recording charitable gifts to the parish. In the following transcript the spelling has been amended to current usage, with the exception of the names.

'Richard Freeftone late of East Norton, Gent. gave Ten Pounds to be placed out by the Minister and Churchwardens for the Poor of this Parish; Interest to be paid on the Fifth Day of November Yearly for ever.

In the Year 1651, Mr Richard Roberts, Ralph Holman, Richard Freefton, and George Brufhfield, Freeholders of this Parish, left Twelve Acres and Twelve Perches of Land for a Cow Pasture for the use and Benefit of the Poor of East Norton for ever.

In the year 1860 The Right Honbl. Lord Berners gave in exchange for the above, 13 acres 2 Rds 36 Poles called Townsend Closes situated East of the Village bounded by the Turnpike Road on the North, Lands of Lord Berners to the West and J.H. Heycock Esq. on the East and South.'
