The Heating System

There are cast iron grills in the centre of the aisle which are relics of an earlier heating system that consisted of a solid fuel stove still situated in a pit towards the west end of the nave and venting in a chimney on the south west corner of the chancel, the heating being by convection from the flue via the grill which runs from the stove along the nave. This system was in use within living memory, but has been superseded by electric heating.
