Richard Bullimore

Richard Bullimore is recorded in the 1901 census as the eleven year old son of Thomas and Margaret living at Station Cottages. Thomas is recorded as being a Railway Signalman, having been born in Northampton. Margaret is recorded as being born in Ireland. Prior to 1901 they had 6 children, Thomas (jnr) born in Cogenhoe, Northamptonshire, Minnie, Margaret, Annie and Phoebe, all born in Great Dalby, Leicestershire, and Richard, born in East Norton.
Richard went on to serve a distinguished military career with the Royal Leicestershire Regiment (The Tigers) and his story can be read here. He also served in The Leicestershire Constabulary rising to the rank of Chief Inspector at Loughborough. His obituary was recorded in the Leicestershire Constabulary newsletter 'Tally-Ho' in 1967 which can be read here
