The Heycock Memorials

On the South side of the chancel arch are memorial tablets to members of the Heycock family.
These are inscribed as follows:

On a Memorial Brass
“In memory of John Hippisley Heycock of East Norton Esq.
Who died 23rd July 1863 aged 70 yrs.

Also of Martha his wife only child of Thomas Lewin of Thrussington in this County
who died 12th Jan 1840 aged 47 yrs.
Also of their childrenJohn who died 6 Jan 1837 aged 14 years
Mary Ann who died 27 Mar 1846 aged 26 years
Emma who died 11 Mar 1850 aged 20 years
Henry who died 15 May 1864 aged 39 years
Charles who died 8 Mar 1886 aged 58 years”
This tablet is erected by the survivors Susanna and Thomas Heycock"

Thanks to Alistair Gilks we learn that
John Hippisley Heycock was John Heycock's grandson.
 JHH was the son of John Heycock, christened East Norton 7 May 1758,
and Susanna Hippisley, christened Hambleton 5 May 1771.
They were married at Hambleton 20 May 1790.
There is a memorial to JHH's parents in Owston, and memorial to his grandparents,
 Tobias & Susanna Hippisley in Hambleton.

“Sacred to the Memory of John Heycock Gent.
Who departed this life March 6th 1805 in the 92 year of his age.”

Also on another stone

“Near this place lieth the body of MARY, the wife of JOHN HEYCOCK;
and Daughter of BENj CLARK of Hardingstone in the County of Northampton Esq. 
She departed this life the 12th day of Jan 1753 in the 39th year of her age.
ALSO ANNE, third daughter of JOHN and MARY HEYCOCK:
She died the 16th day of Nov 1750 in the 3rd Year of her Age.
Also ELIZABETH Second Wife of JOHN HEYCOCK
She died the 10th day of July 1759 in the 38th year of her age
And also SUSANNA second daughter of JOHN and MARY HEYCOCK;
She died the 24th day of July 1766; in the 19th Year of her Age”

" In ever loving memory of Muriel Jane Dyer who died in 1962 aged 80.
